Gm master key6/1/2023 I have 3 vintage motorcycle restorations that I'm just going to keep running at this point and going to move this vehicle out. Want to thank Mike for his generous offer! But I think I should be able to get copies made now as long as big box still does the old key blanks like National B10 and B11.Ĭan't thank all of you enough for your help!! I was a fairly long time member until I decided to sell this car and stopped thinking I would get the resto done after all these years. The door locks are separate from the levers and the numbers match (8007) the trunk cylinder looks to be 9148, might be 9748 as the second digit crosses the plating line.Īttaching photos if I can figure out editor - looks like I can only push links. The same key is used for the original door and ignition cylinders and the second works on the glove box and trunk lock cylinders. So found them and also have the numbers off the cylinders from the doors and trunk. I've recently decided that I will NEVER get this project done and am selling the car, and was really concerned that I no longer had the keys. So looks like I should be able to get a spare set made. While vacuuming and approaching through the trunk found the box that had the door and trunk cylinders and voila!! A set of keys as well, old brass National replacements. Master brake cylinder locked up on me awhile back so couldn't even lift the hood to keep things charged. Kept it rolling so I could move it in and out of a tight garage last 30 years. Fully rebuilt drive train, matching numbers, maybe 100 miles on that rebuild. Chrome off prepped and primed, wheel wells and trunk floor redone, etc. ![]() I've had all of the body work done for a good long time, NOS fenders front (rare, single year) and rear. It's one of those long term project vehicles we probably all know about. OK - had a stroke of luck today! Understand this car has been in my possession at least 40 years. Going to check again to see if the key code is stamped on the cylinder cover. Not wanting to go to the trouble of taking the barrels apart myself at this point to figure out the pattern but guess I could if I had to. Might have even needed to send him the barrels, not sure. Thanks for any info/comments!! I belive the person I was looking for had the set of masters and would send a set to you and you pick the one that works, then return, etc. Going to exhaust this before reverting to changing out the cylinders. Going to see if I can find a Hemmings Motor News the same person advertised there every issue for years. Was trying not to have to remove or change cylinders unless I need to. I did find an old G&D that although not showing the person I mentioned did say they had NOS replacement cylinders, key blanks, etc. Doing a truck roll to come out and pick a lock, make a key etc. Would probably have to charge $100, etc - but I would pay that. probably doesn't hit the "margin target". ![]() You would think a "locksmith" would come and pick a lock and then make a key - but try to find one that can do that or even wants to these days. But the B&S barrels and key sets are hard to find can still find the key blanks easily enough. I have done my own re-keying and mods for home cylinders. Yeah, hard to find "competent" with locksmiths now.
